Is Perfectionism Killing Your Confidence, Growth and Business? - Kylie Snowley-Noden

Have you fallen victim to ‘perfectionism’

Have you come to believe there is such a thing?

Has your progress slowed or stagnated?

For anyone that’s unsure as to what I mean by perfectionism, let me break it down a bit for you.

You want to make more money, grow your team, be more productive but avoid completing what needs to be done.

You want more confidence but tell yourself what you’re doing is never good enough.

You stagnate and procrastinate more than getting S#it done and tell yourself you’re ‘busy.’

You believe you need to do everything, all at once and perfectly.

Eben Pagan calls this “Success Prevention” and I totally agree and I’ll explain why.

If you can relate to any of these points, I hope you hear this – STOP because it’s killing your personal and professional growth.

It’s killing your ability to make your mark on the world.

There is NO such thing as perfection.

There is NO such thing as a perfect product.

There is NO such thing as perfect service.

It’s all made up.

Why? I hear you ask and potentially you’re feeling uncomfortable and want to disagree and that’s cool, just hear me out before dismissing it.  Because there is always something else that can be done, always another level to achieve, always a better way to do and be, and it’s when we can accept this then we can begin to make progress.

Perfectionism is often a desire for approval and not for the ‘outcome’ to be perfect.

People fear that other’s won’t like them, their work, people won’t buy their product or service, and say no.

They make a false belief that it’s about them, that it’s not good enough, about them that is being said no too, which creates their need to get everything ‘perfect’ before they take a risk.

Make sense?

I love this quote by Marianne Williamson:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond all measure.”

So, what if you reminded yourself that the next time you began telling yourself it’s not perfect enough yet?

What if you started taking more chances?

I know for a fact your confidence would increase, your business will make more progress, you will feel less internal friction when you take more action.

Is now your time to begin to believe in yourself rather than avoiding, fearing, feeling the discomfort of holding yourself back and not taking risks?

Plan your ‘good enough’ line and shoot for that because I promise you that the more risks you take and the more action you take and the more you just keep doing it the better you’ll become and the bonus is that will happen much faster than if you try and get it all ‘perfect first’.

And feel the pressure, stress and overwhelm be replaced by freedom, peace and joy!
